South China University of Technology was established in 1952 as a result of an initiative that unified Engineering schools and departments from five distinct provinces in Southern and Central China, which included prominent universities such as: Lingnan University, Hunan University, National Sun Yat-sen University, South China Joint University, and Guangxi University. While the University started out as only providing Undergraduate coursework, it was approved for establishing a Graduate School in 2000. South China University of Technology has two campuses that are located in Guangzhou (Wushan Campus) and Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center Campus (South Campus). The primary central campus of the University is Wushan Campus.
